Classwork and Homework 5/31-6/1

Hi there,
-Yesterday in class we talked about figurative language and poetic devices. I had you box in on page 64 of your reading notebook assonance, alliteration and repetition for effect. These are the three poetic devices that are common in poems. Then you and your table partners read through Day 2 poems on Google Classroom and picked two poems to read and annotate. You were to annotate about figurative lang. that you found in each of the poems. You were to find as many as you could and in the comment box write which one it was and explain it briefly. You were to finish this for homework last night.

Today in class you sat with your partner and discussed at least one figurative language that you found in each poem. Then you filled in the exit ticket. You needed to make sure you explained it thoroughly in the bottom section as to why it helped you understand the meaning of the poem. I gave an example in class, that I would be happy to share with you if you need it.
-Then after you completed and submitted your exit ticket you were to write your second poem focusing on figurative language in the poem. This is due tomorrow.
-Lastly, I showed you and talked about the checklist on Google Classroom. This will be used to assess your final poem next week. You will write one more poem on Monday about theme, then you will combine or use one of the three poems to produce a final poem to be graded.

HOMEWORK:
1. Read and record your title, pages and minutes.
2. Finish your exit ticket.
3. Finish your second poem about figurative language in your notebook on pg. 66.

**Bring in middle school used books that you no longer are reading so you can get book bucks to buy other books in the book swap.

** Some of you NEED to finish NWEA's by Friday, tomorrow....

** Book orders are due June 7th. This will ensure that you will get them before school is out.
