Classwork and Homework

Hi there,
Today was a great day in class. I saw some of you have an "aha" moment. We started out with randomly selected students showing their 3D paragraphs to the class. We gave feedback to each about was it really 3D. Could we see it? We talked about 3D using your five senses to "show me" not tell me. Students gave some excellent suggestions to each other.

Tonight you were to go and read your partner's italic section and then read the purple text they had rewritten about the italics. Then you are to write down suggestions for your partner. Tomorrow you will start class out sharing these very suggestions with your partner.

Then you will be given free reading time. This means you are to come to class with a free reading book that matches the kind of fictional story you are writing. For instance, you are writing a science-fiction story, therefore, you should be reading a science-fiction book. This will help you to see the style of writing that authors do.

Lastly, I handed out a list of transition words that you could be looking at and use to improve your writing. Here is the link to view this paper. Copy and paste it into your browser.

HOMEWORK:
1. Read and record title, pages, and minutes.

2. Read your partner's 3D section and write comments down to help your partner improve their story.

3. Work on adding transitions to your story.

4. Work on another scene in your story to make 3D.

Have a great evening,
Mrs. Downs
