Classwork and Homework

Hi my favorite 7th graders,
Today in class I taught a new reading strategy called: Emotional Event Map. It is basically listing all of the IMPORTANT events in the story. You could put these on a time line or anyway you could creatively display it. Then you are to tell whether the event for the protagonist has a positive or negative effect on him/her. Then in a different color tell the same about the supporting character. Remember to use your voice to explain your analysis. I also talked about how you still need to add to/revise all your other strategies as you are reading nightly and finding out more about the book.
Then you went back to your desk and started work on your emotional event map.

Copy the link below and paste it into your browser to view the rubric for the reading strategy entries.

HOMEWORK:
1. Read and record your title, pages, and minutes tonight as you read.

2. Continue to fill in your scavenger hunt sheets.

3. Revise strategies #'s 1-4 and complete strategy #5.

Have a great evening,
Mrs. Downs
