-Today in class I instructed you about pressures that your protagonist feel throughout the book. Some of these pressures are internal-from within the character themselves, and some are external-from others or situations in the book. We used the short story "Rules of the Game" to talk about Waverly's pressures she felt from her mom and herself. We analyzed the pressure and what it meant for Waverly.
-Then you went back to your desk and begin to create a pressure map in your reading notebook on page 41. I had used a stick figure and put the pressures in clouds all around it, then used quotes for the pressure to show them in the book. After all the pressures were completed, I wrote at the bottom of the paper an analysis of what these pressures meant for Waverly. The other way I did it was a time line with the pressures on the top and the reactions/feelings on the bottom explaining and analyzing them.
-Lastly I went around the class and assessed your reading notebook setting map using a HOWLs.
1. Read and record your rereading of your book.
2. Continue to fill in the scavenger hunt chart.
3. Finish reading notebook #3-pressure map.
